I do love a good wedding, especially an autumn/winter one. They have a different feel about them, all the rich colours, candles and no disappointment over the weather. Best of all for me, is the different way you can dress – black doesn’t seem inappropriate, a great trouser suit for covering up or a jumpsuit for a bit of glamour.
Now I must confess I would wear all of these to a summer wedding too, (black is my happy colour) which is why I find dressing this time of year much easier full stop – it’s just more my thing. As it’s my thing, I had a clear idea of what I wanted to wear for the wedding I went to last week. A black tuxedo suit, crisp white shirt and stiletto shoes – a la Saint Laurent. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that at the final hour (we’re talking getting alternations done the day before the wedding), I found the perfect tuxedo suit from French Connection. In the end I wore it with a black camisole instead of a white shirt, but it was exactly what I wanted and I felt really good in it.
When buying an outfit for any occasion I always like to know I can wear it again and in more than one way, even more so when I’ve spent over £300 on it (including alterations). So here are few ways I’ll be wearing my new LBS (little black suit).
TUXEDO SUIT + SPORTS T-SHIRT + LEOPARD PRINT ANKLE BOOTS = DAY CAUSAL
TUXEDO SUIT + CREAM BLOUSE + STILETTO HEELS = SMART DAY
TUXEDO SUIT + BLACK BLOUSE + STUDDED BELT = EVENING
